There’s growing discontent within the England rugby team regarding head coach Steve Borthwick’s current training methods. As the team enters a new Rugby World Cup cycle, Borthwick has implemented significant changes to their attacking and defensive strategies. South African defensive specialist Felix Jones has been brought in to introduce a Springboks-like system, which Borthwick aims to perfect much faster than the 14 games it took South Africa. However, this rapid shift has not been well-received by all.

Several players have reportedly expressed frustration over the heavy emphasis on defensive drills, which they feel has led to a neglect of their attacking skills. This imbalance was starkly evident in their recent Calcutta Cup defeat, where numerous handling errors plagued their performance. A source close to the team mentioned, "The focus on defense is important, but our attack needs equal attention if we’re to be competitive.
