The equestrian world is reeling after a shocking video surfaced of six-time Olympic medalist Charlotte Dujardin appearing to whip a horse. This bombshell, just days before the Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony, has resulted in Dujardin's suspension and withdrawal from the Games, leaving her Olympic legacy in tatters.
Dujardin, a three-time Olympic champion and Britain’s joint-most decorated female Olympian, was set to compete in Paris, aiming to solidify her place in Olympic history.
However, a video aired on Good Morning Britain on July 24, 2024, depicted a different story. The footage, albeit short, showed Dujardin repeatedly striking a horse with a long whip while coaching a rider whose face remained obscured. The horse exhibited clear signs of distress, bucking and lifting its legs in an attempt to escape the blows.

The backlash was swift and severe. Alice Plunkett, a former eventer and presenter on ITV Racing, condemned Dujardin's actions on Good Morning Britain, stating that the training methods shown in the video were not standard practice in the equestrian community.
"That is not a standard way of training horses for top-level dressage," she emphasized, questioning how Dujardin, known for her deep connection with horses, could resort to such methods.
