Dave Coulier, who portrayed the beloved Uncle Joey on the iconic sitcom "Full House," recently shared a hilarious tidbit on his podcast, . During a chat with former co-star Debra Stipe, Coulier revealed that he had the unique opportunity to choose his character's last name. The name he picked? "Gladstone." The reason behind it? A cheeky pun. Coulier explained, "I always thought it was a funny name. It was almost like, ‘I’m glad that I’m stoned.’ You know, I’m a comedian, so that was what I thought”.

When Coulier first auditioned for "Full House," he didn't even think he had landed the role. After reading for Joey, he was surprisingly asked to read for the father figure, a role that eventually went to Bob Saget. Coulier walked out thinking he had blown his chance. However, Jeff Franklin, the show's creator, was sold on Coulier's performance and his choice of last name for Joey sealed the deal.
Franklin found the name "Gladstone" amusing and fitting for the character’s comedic nature.
