Adjoa Andoh has once again brought to light a pressing issue in Hollywood that has long been ignored. As an actress who portrayed Lady Danbury for four seasons in the popular series *Downton Abbey*, Andoh's words carry significant weight. In a recent interview, she boldly critiqued the film industry, emphasizing that the massive success of *Bridgerton* has not led to improved treatment for Black actors.
Andoh recounts her experiences during the filming of the latest season of *Bridgerton*, where she confronted the producers about improper lighting for Black actors.
"It was very tiring and distracting," she admitted, explaining that adjustments were frequently needed to ensure the actors were properly illuminated.
Adjoa has played Lady Danbury since 2020 and has received international recognition for her portrayal of the character. However after sitting down with Andi and Miquita Oliver on the pod, she began to discuss racism within the industry and her experiences on set.

Working previously in theatre as well as television and film, Adjoa explained that she didn’t feel powerful in her career because of the racism she’s experienced.
