The late Matthew Perry, beloved for his role as Chandler Bing on "Friends," was remembered by his ex, Maeve Quinlan, in a recent heartfelt interview. Quinlan, reflecting on their time together, shared intimate details about Perry's journey to sobriety and the profound impact it had on their relationship.
Maeve Quinlan, an actress known for her role in soap operas, met Matthew Perry in the hallway of their apartment building. At the time, Perry was one year sober, having taken significant steps to overcome his decades-long battle with addiction.
"He was the guy every guy wanted to hang out with and every girl wanted to date," Quinlan recalled. "He was kind of unsure of himself. He wasn’t, believe it or not, completely confident with girls, even though he dated the likes of Julia Roberts."
Their relationship quickly blossomed, and they became inseparable. Quinlan described Perry as a genuine and kind-hearted person who was open about his past struggles. "When Matthew and I embarked on a romantic relationship, he was 100 percent sober and was very open about his previous struggles," she said.
"That was his one fully sober year, and we were practically inseparable."
The relationship between Perry and Quinlan, which lasted from 2002 to 2003, was built on a foundation of mutual respect and support.
