Jensen Ackles, the heartthrob who brought Dean Winchester to life for 15 seasons of "Supernatural," is finally ready to say goodbye to his iconic character. The beloved series wrapped up its run in 2020, leaving fans heartbroken but also deeply satisfied with the way Dean's story ended.

Ackles, now taking on a new role as Soldier Boy in the gritty superhero series "The Boys," has been reflecting on Dean's dramatic final moments.
He revealed his thoughts on the ending at Creation’s Supernatural fan-con SPNAustin, a gathering of die-hard fans eager to hear from the show's stars.
"Yes, I am happy," Ackles declared. "I think it had to be him going out, doing what he was made to be doing, doing what he loved to be doing. But also like, it needed to be in a way where he could stay on top."
Ackles, known for his witty and down-to-earth personality, emphasized that Dean’s death couldn’t be a slow, tragic decline. "Getting sick or getting debilitated in a way that made him fall down or on a deathbed or anything like that, I don’t think was as powerful as him actually standing up and looking at his brother eye to eye.
"
Dean's death, a heroic sacrifice in a final battle against a powerful vampire, was a fitting end for a character who had dedicated his life to protecting his family, friends, and the world from supernatural threats.
