1923 has added its first new cast member for season 2. The Paramount+ show is both a spinoff and a prequel to the smash hit neo-western show Yellowstone. Set in the titular year, the show follows the trials and tribulations of a generation of the Dutton family between the timelines of the earlier prequel 1883 and the flagship show, with a star-studded cast that includes Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, Jerome Flynn, Isabel May, Brian Geraghty, and Timothy Dalton. The upcoming 1923 season 2 was officially renewed in February 2023, midway through the run of season 1.
Per Deadline, Jennifer Carpenter will be joining the cast of 1923 season 2. She will be playing a recurring role in the new season as Mamie Fossett. Her character is described as "a highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time." This marks the first new character to join the returning cast, though it remains to be seen if any further major characters are added as the show prepares to kick off production in the second half of 2024.
