The cancellation of "Blue Bloods" after 14 seasons sent shockwaves through the fandom and left many cast members disheartened. However, one former star, Jennifer Esposito, has a different take on the situation. While fans are rallying to save the show, Esposito, who played Detective Jackie Curatola in the series' early seasons, believes the decision to end it was a "smart" one.
A Controversial Departure
Esposito's comments come as no surprise, considering her tumultuous exit from the show in 2012.
Her departure was reportedly due to medical issues and a disagreement with CBS over her contract. She publicly accused the network of putting her on unpaid leave and preventing her from working elsewhere after her doctor advised she needed a lighter workload due to her battle with Celiac Disease.

A Bittersweet Farewell
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Esposito expressed her thoughts on the cancellation, stating, “Everything has to come to an end, and I think they’re smart to end it now, it’s been a long time.
” She acknowledged the "great times" she had during her time on the show but also admitted to "some not so fun times." While she still gets asked about returning to "Blue Bloods," she humorously acknowledged that it's been ten years since she left.
