Carrie Underwood is going back to her American Idol roots as a judge following Katy Perry’s exit.ABC confirmed the news on Thursday, August 1, with a throwback video showcasing Underwood’s intro package on the show 20 years ago.
In the video, Underwood could be seen reflecting on her past. "I went from nobody knowing my name to millions watching my performances," she stated, her voice filled with pride and nostalgia.

It's hard to forget that in 2005, Underwood went from being an aspiring singer to winning American Idol, setting the stage for an illustrious career that was yet to come. The montage served as a beautiful reminder of her monumental rise to fame, showcasing her many achievements over the years, including selling 85 million records globally, notching 28 number-one singles, and winning numerous prestigious awards such as 8 Grammys, 17 American Music Awards, 10 People's Choice Awards, and 7 Country Music Association Awards.
Underwood, 41, will join Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan on the panel for season 23. The country singer is no stranger to the American Idol stage, winning the competition in 2005.
