70 Years After Kidnapping, Luis Albino Reunites with His Long-Lost Family
In a heartwarming yet extraordinary twist of fate, Luis Armando Albino, who was kidnapped as a six-year-old in 1951, was recently reunited with his biological family after 70 years. His incredible journey, spanning decades of separation, is a powerful testament to the enduring hope and resilience of one family’s love.
It all began on February 21, 1951, when young Luis was playing in Jefferson Square Park, West Oakland, with his older brother Roger.
That day, an unknown woman, wearing a bandana, lured Luis away with the promise of candy. Roger, who had momentarily turned away, couldn’t stop the abduction. From that moment, Luis vanished without a trace.

The local police, along with the FBI, Coast Guard, and even military personnel, launched a massive search. Despite their efforts, no substantial leads emerged. Luis's devastated family was left in the dark about his fate for more than seven decades.
For years, Luis’s mother held onto hope that her son was still alive. She often contacted authorities, hoping for new leads, and even carried a newspaper clipping of her missing boy in her wallet until she passed away in 2005.
