Even demon-hunting brothers have to deal with real-life drama sometimes. Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester on Supernatural, recently found himself in hot water after an alleged altercation at a bar in Austin, Texas. While fans were concerned, his on-screen brother, Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), took a lighter approach, offering a mix of humor and support at a recent fan convention.
Padalecki was scheduled to appear at a Supernatural convention in Washington, D.C., but had to cancel following his arrest. Ackles, taking the stage solo, greeted the crowd with a playful quip.
"I could get used to this!” he joked, referencing the thunderous applause. “I’m kidding — we all miss my big, dumb friend. And I’ll just say it now, look, he had a bad weekend last weekend. He’s dealing with what he’s got to deal with, so just send him some support and love.
”
Ackles revealed that the Supernatural cast and crew weren’t afraid to poke a little fun at Padalecki upon his return to filming.
