Remember that Supernatural spin-off drama that had fans clutching their flannel shirts in despair? Well, Jensen Ackles is finally setting the record straight about why he kept Jared Padalecki out of the loop on The Winchesters, and it turns out, superstition played a major role.

During an appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Ackles revealed that he kept the spin-off a secret, even from his on-screen brother, because he didn’t want to jinx it.
“I'm extremely superstitious when it comes to a few things,” Ackles admitted. “We don't talk about auditions until we got the role. It's an unwritten rule that you just don't talk about shit until it's a done deal.”
It makes sense, right? Actors are a notoriously superstitious bunch, and Ackles, venturing into the world of producing for the first time, wanted to ensure everything was secure before spilling the beans.
Ackles planned to tell Padalecki once the spin-off was a sure thing, but unfortunately, news travels faster than a demon on a hellhound’s back.
