Vanessa Williams, the iconic actress and singer, is embracing her age with a refreshing perspective. At 61, the former Miss America proudly declares her decision to avoid Botox, fillers, or facelifts. “I want to look like myself,” she tells PEOPLE. Vanessa welcomes the natural changes that come with aging, preferring non-invasive treatments like micro-current and nano-current technology. “We were literally just talking about fillers, Botox, who’s had work, who hasn’t done work,” she says, emphasizing her choice to steer clear of more drastic measures.

Vanessa draws inspiration from like-minded peers, notably Diane von Furstenberg. After watching Furstenberg’s documentary, Williams felt a strong connection to the idea of embracing wisdom and age. “Yeah, there’s some wrinkles,” she admits. “But that’s because I have sat out in the sun for too long. But I love the sun, dammit!” Her candidness about enjoying life, despite the visible signs of aging, is both refreshing and empowering.
“If the sun is out, I will sit out in the sun and do my crossword and have a nice glass of wine.”
