An Ordinary Night Takes a Dark Turn
It was a seemingly ordinary night in May 2008 when Brandon Swanson, a 19-year-old college student, set off on a drive home after celebrating the end of the semester with friends. But what began as a routine drive through the rural backroads of Minnesota quickly spiraled into a chilling mystery that has left his family and community grappling for answers to this day.
A Fateful Phone Call: The Last Words Heard
Around midnight, Brandon's car got stuck in a ditch on a gravel road.
Frustrated but seemingly calm, he called his parents for help. “I’m by Lynd,” he told them, referring to a nearby town. But when his parents arrived at the location he described, they found nothing but darkness and empty roads. “Can’t you see me?” Brandon asked, his voice tinged with confusion and anxiety as both parties flashed their headlights, desperate to locate one another.
The conversation continued for 47 minutes, with Brandon deciding to leave his car and walk towards what he believed were nearby lights.
But then, out of nowhere, the phone call was abruptly cut off by a sudden exclamation: “Oh, s–t!” And just like that, Brandon Swanson was gone.
