A terrifying attack has left a New York Uber driver shaken, after 23-year-old Jennifer Guilbeault allegedly pepper-sprayed him without provocation. The incident, captured on dashcam, occurred late at night in Manhattan. Driver Shohel Mahmud, a Bangladeshi immigrant, believes the attack was racially motivated, citing his skin color as the reason.
In the dashcam footage, Mahmud can be seen driving calmly when suddenly Guilbeault leans forward and sprays pepper spray directly at his face. The video, which has since gone viral, reveals the horrifying moment Mahmud’s ride took a dangerous turn.
Mahmud later told reporters, “I thought they were trying to hijack my car.” The suddenness of the attack has led many to question the underlying motives, with Mahmud asserting, “I believe it’s because of my skin color.
