Jensen Ackles, the beloved star of Supernatural, recently revealed that he was almost cast as Deadpool, the wisecracking, fourth-wall-breaking superhero brought to life by Ryan Reynolds.
Ackles, known for his portrayal of the demon-hunting heartthrob Dean Winchester, shared the bombshell revelation during a Supernatural fan event, sending shockwaves through the fandom.
"There was definitely a movie that I was very much in talks about," Ackles teased, before confirming that the movie in question was indeed Deadpool.
A Scheduling Conflict and an "Awkward" Ex Factor
So, why didn't Ackles land the role? It all came down to timing.
"I wasn't available, so the train just kind of stopped there," he explained. "But had I been available, I would've had to, you know, jump through the studio hoops and jump through the, you know, producer hoops and stuff."
But fate, it seems, had other plans.
And looking back, Ackles believes it all worked out for the best.
"It was probably a good thing because my ex-girlfriend [Morena Baccarin, who played Deadpool's love interest] was on there, and so that probably would have been awkward," he admitted with a chuckle.
