Emma Samms, the beloved actress who plays the enigmatic Holly Sutton on General Hospital, is back in Port Charles – and fans are buzzing about whether she’ll be a hero or a villain this time around.

“It’s so fun, and really interesting,” Samms says about her character, known for her complex and unpredictable nature. “It’s that depth, all those different colors that Holly has to her character.”
But there's more to Samms' return than just the typical soap opera drama.
Behind the scenes, the actress has been battling a grueling, long-term health battle with COVID-19.
A Challenging Return: Battling Long COVID
"I've been like this now for four and a half years nearly,” Samms shares about her ongoing struggle. “It’s baffling to the doctors. All they keep finding is more and more damage that COVID has done to people’s bodies."
Samms' experience with long COVID has been debilitating. She’s had to limit her work schedule and has even been forced to sit down for many of her scenes on General Hospital.
"I got some really good scans done, and they found that at some point I had myocarditis, which has scarred my heart,” she reveals. “The consequences of COVID — I think we still have only just scratched the surface, and it’s terrifying to me that people think we are no longer in a pandemic.
