When it comes to dedication to a role, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has taken things to a whole new level—without even realizing it. The star, famous for portraying the iconic Negan, recently shared an unforgettable and rather disgusting experience while filming . In a scene where Negan was supposed to be locked up and eating cockroaches, Morgan accidentally went full method—eating real cockroaches instead of the chocolate ones he thought were on his plate.

It all came to light during a Comic-Con panel where Morgan and his co-star Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, reminisced about filming . When Cohan was asked to share a funny behind-the-scenes story, she couldn’t resist setting Morgan up. “He doesn’t want me to tell the story,” Cohan teased, only for Morgan to chime in, “You can tell it. It just shows that I’m an idiot.”
Morgan explained that while filming a scene where his character Negan is forced to eat cockroaches, the production team had prepared two versions of the bugs—one made of chocolate and another of real cockroaches, to ensure the scene looked as authentic as possible.
Unfortunately, no one informed Morgan that half the plate contained actual insects. “I can’t see anything without my glasses,” Morgan confessed, “I’m just seeing brown little blobs on a plate, and I’m eating ‘em.
