Supernatural fans are still reeling from the Season 14 finale that left the Winchesters facing an apocalypse of biblical proportions – and their surrogate son, Jack, dead at the hands of a vengeful God. But how is Castiel, the angel who had become a father figure to Jack, coping with this devastating loss? Not well, according to actor Misha Collins.

As if facing an army of zombies unleashed by a power-mad God wasn’t enough, the Winchesters and Castiel are now grappling with the realization that the being they once believed in has become their ultimate enemy.
For Castiel, God’s betrayal cuts especially deep. “Cas actually gave up on his dad, God, in season 9, I wanna say,” Collins shared in a recent interview. “I think he has come to terms with the fact that God is not going to be the father figure that he had hoped for.”
While Castiel might have seen this coming, it doesn’t make the reality any less shocking.
“This is, as far as we know, the most powerful being in the universe, and he’s against us, and we thought he was good,” Collins pointed out.
