In the midst of a dull office job, Rento, a young woman trapped in the monotony of her daily grind, receives a frantic call from a friend urging her to finish her tasks quickly. Reflecting on the lack of excitement in her life, she wishes for something more fulfilling.
When Rento regains consciousness, she finds herself face-to-face with a man she recognizes as a deity. The god apologizes for the dimensional disturbances in her world that led to her accidental injury. Although he managed to rescue her soul, he explains that returning her to her original body is impossible.
