The Supernatural fandom was divided over the show's ending, particularly about Dean Winchester's fate. Jensen Ackles, the actor who played the beloved hunter, recently opened up about his own reaction to Dean's final scene and how an unexpected conversation helped him come to terms with it.

The Unexpected Ending
After 15 seasons and countless battles against demons, angels, and other supernatural creatures, Supernatural finally came to a close.
But fans were shocked when they learned how Dean's story would end.
"There was a lot of divide amongst the Supernatural fandom about how the show ended and what happened with my character," Ackles reveals. "I'm sure you're aware of this."

The idea that Dean would be the one to die while Sam would live on was a difficult pill for Ackles to swallow.
"I always thought that if someone was going to go, it would be Sam, as kind of the martyr," Ackles reflects.
"And Dean would then be left to just kind of stumble through the rest of his life, mourning his brother and his lost family. Maybe a sad existence, but that's just how it happened.
