In the original House of the Dragon books, Admiral Lohar is a man, however, in the series both male and female pronouns are used interchangeably. In the book, Lohar leads the charge in the infamous Battle of Gullet, a bloody battle involving heartbreaking losses on both sides, including Jace and his dragon.
Immediately after the battle, only three of the 28 Triarchy battleships survived, with all three being from Lohar’s hometown Lyseni. As a result, the other nations feel as though Lohar sacrificed their people in order to save his own.
Later, Lohar learns some of her men have captured Viserys and she decides to look after him for a time, although he is later sold to a magistrate. In the end, the admiral is murdered by one of his rivals.
